Meet The Artist
Sam was raised in the NW suburbs of Chicago, but it was in Bloomington, Indiana, in 2013, that he first encountered the transformative dance of fire and glass. What began as a flicker of curiosity soon grew into a blazing, lifelong devotion to the art of glassblowing.
During his years in Indiana, Sam refined his craft through a devoted apprenticeship, embracing the discipline, patience, and quiet understanding needed to shape molten glass into forms that carry both weight and emotion.
Sam Freeman, known professionally as Kosher Glass, is a Chicago-based glass artist specializing in custom and repurposed glass creations. Through his brand, Glass by KG, Sam transforms the symbolic glass broken under the chuppah into one-of-a-kind Judaica, including mezuzahs, Shabbat sets, and menorahs. Each piece is handcrafted with intention, preserving the spirit of the moment while creating lasting heirlooms.
Eventually, Sam returned to the Chicagoland area, drawn back to his roots and continuing to explore and expand the horizons of his artistic journey. This journey led to the creation of Glass by KG, inspired by his formative years at Olin Sang Ruby Union Institute (URJ OSRUI), a Reform Jewish summer camp, where he was both a camper and a counselor. Those experiences instilled in him a deep sense of community, creativity, and purpose—values that continue to shape his artistry and inform every piece he creates.
